You know nothing!

“You’re not close enough to the project to interview our client.”

I’ve heard this objection a few times, and it’s understandable.

There are a few reasons why it pays to use a freelancer rather than doing it yourself.

  • You’re writing for your ideal client, not yourself or your current client. Too many case studies are self-serving and miss the point

  • A fresh perspective will lead to questions and answers you wouldn’t have considered

  • The result will be an engaging story rather than a box-ticking exercise that sounds like most other case studies

In the past year, I’ve written case studies for construction projects, card payment devices, distilleries, insurance brokers, a patisserie and many more.

By agreeing questions in advance, I could demonstrate I knew what I was talking about and had researched what would appeal to the target audience.

The whole point of case studies is generating leads, and you don’t need a subject matter expert. It can be counter-productive.

I’d love to hear your thoughts, so feel free to reply.

Until next Thursday,

Jamie
