Hi, my name is (what?)

I got a rescue dog earlier this year, and taking her on walks by the sea usually results in an idea for The Magic Megaphone.

So, if you don’t like this week’s topic, don’t blame me! Blame Macey (my dog’s name, just to be clear).

And in a seamless transition, I’m talking about the power of naming things this week.

It’s easier to market services if you call them something memorable. I’m not talking about gold, silver and bronze SEO packages here.

I’m sure you know that already, but how can charities and non-profits use this principle to get more donations?

Let’s say they send an email asking people to consider setting up a monthly direct debit for £2, £5, or £10.

It makes sense to name each of those amounts to help bring them to life.

These could be a description of the impact they’re making, for example:

  • £2 - Turtle-saver

  • £5 - Coral restorer

  • £10 - Whale protector

This can have a few benefits, including:

  • Adding emotional impact to their request

  • Standing out from other charities and non-profits

  • Being memorable long after someone’s read the email

Whether you’ve got a client who could benefit from this or want to use it for your own services, it’s a small tweak that can have a big impact.

Until next Thursday.
